Ahead of SCO Summit, PM Modi Meets Kyrgyzstan President

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has met Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov before the SCO Council of Heads of State Meeting in Bishkek.

President Jeenbekov is also the current Chair of SCO Summit 2019.

PM Modi was greeted by President Jeenbekov as he arrived at Ala Archa Presidential Palace before the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State meeting.

The External Affairs Ministry spokesman Raveesh Kumar tweets, “President Sooronbay Jeenbekov of #Kyrgyz Republic, current Chair of #SCOSummit2019 warmly welcomed PM @narendramodi as he arrived at the Ala Archa Presidential Palace ahead of the SCO Council of Heads of State Meeting today morning.”

The meeting between PM Modi and President Jeenbekov is their first interaction after his re-election follows the historic victory of BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

On Thursday, the Prime Minister of India arrived in Kyrgyzstan Capital for 20days SCO Summit.

SCO is a China-led eight member security and economic bloc with Pakistan and India being admitted to the grouping of 2017.
